Kate Barry at Side Gallery

There is an unquestionable authenticity that comes across in Kate Barry's artworks, drawing in the viewer in an almost primal way. Her stunning compositions are alive with dynamic colour and texture and convey free, spontaneous and emotional expression. The works in Kate's latest solo exhibition SOURCE are a reference to the source of inspiration, or the source of Kate’s emotional expression, and emphasises the unstudied and intuitive application of paint. Dynamic compositional drama, teamed with Kate’s ability to tie lyricism and beauty to gestural mark-making, consistently proves the artist’s ability to reflect, articulate, and capture an expression.

SOURCE will showcase a number of large scale artworks as well as 32 small works on board. These are primarily focussing on process, while exploring the materiality of paint, and restricting the type of gestural strokes available to a 20 x 20cm board. Read more and view works on the Side Gallery website. Join Kate 'In Conversation' with curator Laura Brinin from 5.30pm and for opening night drinks 6-8pm this Thursday 13 February. RSVP SOURCE runs until 28 February.
