One service we provide, that is not common knowledge, are our custom ply cradle panels. Artists love painting on them. They are primed ready for painting, and are nice and square so they frame up beautifully.

We accumulate quite a number of fine art prints over the years, either because they were part of the colour proofing process or they did not pass our strict quality control 🧐
.
What does one do with draw loads of prints?
.
All our fine art papers are of very high quality, with the reverse side in its pure form, without any coating to take the printing ink. So, we had the idea of recycling these prints into Artist Pads.
.
We invested in some materials to get the project underway and then Jon set about the huge task of making them. First up was cutting the prints down to oversize A4 and A3. He then collated them in sets of 12 sheets, making sure there was an eclectic mix of image crops on the reverse. Next he knocked each set up to one end and one side then clamped six sets up with backing boards in our handmade press. Commercial padding compound was then applied and left to dry. Each pad was slit away from the next and then the remaining two sides were cut to size on the guillotine. Then it was over to me to design, print and attached each cover to the pads. Phew 🥵
.
The sheets are all around 300gsm, with many containing up to 100% cotton rag, and not unlike some Arches paper pads. For a fraction of the price you can get a gorgeous art pad, and support our efforts and help the planet.

Our purpose built photography studio, partnered with almost 30 years experience photographing artwork, means we can help artists and galleries get great results!

Our custom made easel allows us to photograph artworks up to 3 x 5 metres in length.

The lighting can be adjusted according to the medium used, to maintain or lessen texture, diminish glare, or capture works framed behind glass.
.
Our 180 megapixel multi-shot camera captures very detailed, very high resolution images. And in conjunction with the easel means we are capable of producing files so large they’ve been wrapped around buildings and trucks, and been used in an interactive exhibition at QUT Art Museum.

In our custom built studio in Samford we can easily provide art documentation and reproduction of artworks up to many metres in each dimension.

And a flashback to a job we did for QUT Art Museum in 2018: the William Robinson 'Nature Imagined' exhibition at The Cube. The aim of the exhibition, that visitors can interact with the works, zooming it to view Bill's artworks in great detail. We needed to produce ultra high resolution image files of large William Robinson paintings.

Our custom studio easel combined with our height adjustable studio camera allowed us to accurately make 6 captures per row over 4 rows for a total of 24 captures and stitch them together seamlessly for a total image file 3.2 Gigabytes in size per painting.
.
